Admissions

UW Immunology admissions is characterized by a flexible set of requirements, and the application process is easily completed online.

The online application for admission to the University of Washington Immunology Ph.D. program is submitted using the UW Graduate School application.  Check the broad basic steps on this page before you begin. Also, be sure to review the basic information about the Immunology Ph.D. program and the Graduate School on the UW Graduate School application sites.  The Department of Immunology has created a list of frequently asked questions (FAQ) to aid you with the application process.

Step 1

Open the online UW Graduate School’s application.

Step 2

Create an account, i.e. a new applicant profile.

Step 3

Complete the personal profile.

Step 4

Submit the following online:

  • GRE Scores (self-reporting)
  • Personal Statement of Purpose
  • Unofficial transcript(s)
  • Names of three references who will write letters of recommendation
  • Resume or CV
  • List of publications and awards
  • List of five or six UW Immunology faculty members whose research is of interest to you

Applying to Multiple Programs

The various biomedical graduate programs offered reflect the cross-disciplinary nature of training at the University of Washington.  Applicants are encouraged to apply to more than one program if the University of Washington is a high priority for your graduate studies.  Each program application is separate, and carries with it the standard graduate application fee.  UW Biomedical Science Graduate Programs are listed here on the UW Medicine website.

Annual enrollment only during Autumn Quarter (late September) 

US Citizens, Permanent Residents, and International Application Deadline: December 7, annually

Online application and online supporting documentation only – please do not mail hard copies

For International applicants only (see FAQ)

Application Completion

US Citizens and US Permanent Residents: An application is not complete unless all of the items listed in the application process steps are received by the specified deadline, as well as: 

  • ETS officially reporting your GRE scores to Institution Code 4854 by December 7
  • Three separate letters of recommendation have been uploaded by your letter writers to the online application by December 7 

 

International Applicants:The deadline for international applications is December 7.  All application material must be submitted by this date, including:

  • ETS officially reporting your GRE scores to Institution Code 4854 by December 7
  • ETS officially reporting your TOEFL scores to Institution Code 4854 by December 7 (International applicants only)
  • Three separate letters of recommendation have been uploaded by your letter writers to the online application by December 7
