Immunology Welcomes Tribal Council Vice Chair Loni Greninger of the Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe in Special Seminar on Allyship
October 19, 2021. The Department of Immunology was honored to host Loni Greninger, MPA, Tribal Council Vice Chair, of the Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe for a IMMUN 573 Special Seminar, organized by the Immunology Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee. Greninger delivered a powerful talk on history and allyship, including the history and resilience of the Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe, who have lived on the Olympic Peninsula since time immemorial.
Greninger’s work spans leadership and outreach, language revitalization, social services, elder programs, education programs, and even the state’s first mass COVID-19 vaccination clinic in early 2021. Her seminar “…and then you will know you are safe.” An Indigenous Perspective on Allyship” illustrated the uniqueness of the indigenous sovereign nations of our local tribes and bands, and demonstrated ways in which we can become trusted allies. We are honored and grateful for her time and expertise.
