Why I chose UW Immunology
I chose UW Immunology for the strong sense of community, high quality research opportunities, and a department wide respect and appreciation for a healthy work-life balance.
Activities and Interests
I spend a lot of time outdoors and despite the stereotype of Seattle as a rainy city, the access to outdoor recreation here is fantastic! I enjoy rock climbing, skiing, hiking, biking, etc. all of which can be accessed easily from Seattle.
Advice from me
I would advise potential trainees to consider the type of lifestyle they want to live. It’s important to be sure the department you join will respect and support that lifestyle no matter the percentage of your life you want to dedicate to academics.
More about me
I study how various forms of programmed cell death alter the immune response to cancer. Currently, my project seeks to investigate the mechanisms by which apoptotic cell death, a classically tolerogenic form of programmed cell death, enhances tumor metastasis.
