Why I chose UW Immunology
I started my clinical fellowship in adult infectious diseases at UW in 2019, and was delighted to join the Urdahl Lab at Seattle Children’s Research Institute to investigate immune responses to Mycobacterium tuberculosis. My background is in host-pathogen interactions, particularly in macrophage-intrinsic, interferon gamma-mediated innate immunity to intracellular bacteria and parasites. I also have prior experience in computational biology. My current position is well situated to build upon my prior experience and interests to provide me with physiologically relevant tools for the study of immunity to tuberculosis, one of humanity’s oldest plagues.
Activities and Interests
I enjoy catching up with friends and family around the world, remotely for now during the pandemic. Also love tennis, downhill skiing, running, biking, hiking, and backpacking. Seattle and the PNW are gorgeous and I appreciate the city’s vibrant and diverse sub-cultures, the mild winters, and the relatively easy commutes. I’m looking forward to attending live music shows again we get over the pandemic.
Advice from me
Cannot think of a better place to be.
More about me
We investigate innate and early-adaptive immune responses to Mycobacterium tuberculosis (MTb) using in vivo mouse infection models as well as MTb vaccine strategies.
