Why I chose UW Immunology

The student body was so tight knit, the faculty were all friendly, approachable, and very impressive, and Seattle itself is a great city with beautiful nature all around.

Activities and Interests

Hiking, skiing, trail running, climbing, park hangs with ridiculous water and mountain views, Ballard breweries, infinite local coffee roasters, so much eating. Seattle is the perfect combo of city activities and access to the outdoors, I love it.

Advice from me

The best advice I got when applying to grad school was to prioritize location and the department culture – you’ll be in the program for a significant amount of time and you want to be happy outside of your research!

More about me

The Pepper Lab is interested in how B cells and CD4+ T cells contribute to immunological memory. We’ve shown that there are distinct subsets of memory B cells that have different requirements for formation and respond differently to a secondary exposure. I’m interested in determining what specific T cell signals dictate the kinds of memory B cells that are generated in response to infection.
