  • The Department of Immunology pays for lodging and food/beverages.
  • Carpooling is the norm, as travel expenses (mileage, gas, etc.) are not reimbursed.
  • The schedule of events and presentations for the retreat will be available in August 2019.

Event Registration
Advance registration is required.  Registration information will be sent out in June 2019.  The registration deadline for 2019 will be in early August 2019.  Registration priority is given to Immunology faculty, graduate students and postdoctoral fellows, as well as to graduate students in other programs who are doing research in Immunology labs and to new MCB graduate students who are rotating in Immunology labs.  Immunology Graduate Students are required to attend the retreat, as are other graduate students in Immunology labs.

Poster Presentations
All graduate students and postdocs are highly encouraged to present a poster at the Retreat.  Graduate students in and beyond their third year are expected to present a poster.

The Call for Abstracts will be sent out in Spring 2019.  The Retreat Planning Committee reviews all abstracts to determine which poster presenters are invited to give an oral presentation in one of the retreat workshops.  Workshop presenters will be announced in early August 2019.

Prizes for Posters
Monetary prizes are to be used for scholarly endeavors.

  • For the 2019 Immunology Retreat, the Sandra Clark Education Fund provides a monetary prize of $1,000 for the Best Poster by a Graduate Student.  Nicole Arroyo, graduate student in the Pepper Lab, won this prize for 2018.
  • In 2017, we added a new separate award for graduate students entering their 3rd year or below.  The award was for the best presentation of the big picture for a graduate student’s research project.  The Sandra Clark Education Fund provided a monetary prize of $250.  Brittany Ulloa, graduate student in the Gale Lab, received this award for excellent presentations. For the 2019 Immunology Retreat the award will be raised to $500.
  • The postdoc posters are judged separately, and for 2018, the department provided an award of $1,000 for Best Postdoctoral Poster.  This award was given to Anna Bruchez, postdoctoral fellow in the Lacy-Hulbert Lab in 2018.
