Seminars & Events
The Department of Immunology, in partnership with individual and corporate sponsors, creates a vibrant learning experience through its regular seminar series and invited lectures for our graduate students, postdoctoral trainees, faculty and the broader community.
A key component of the UW Immunology experience is frequent seminars and events. From annual events such as the Department Retreat to regular research seminars, departmental activities enrich life for the UW Immunology community. See the Immunology Events Calendar for current listings of seminars, events and university dates of note.
Immunology Faculty Seminar Series
The Department of Immunology Faculty Seminars feature lecturers who discuss the latest advances in immunological research. Seminars are held Mondays at 3:30 pm during the academic year, in the Orin Smith Auditorium of the UW South Lake Union buildings. These events are open to the UW community.
See the Faculty Seminars Page for speakers this month.
Research in Progress (RIP)
The Department of Immunology presents weekly programs featuring graduate students and postdoctoral fellows. Each week, a graduate student and a postdoctoral fellow present their current research activities and findings, with opportunity for audience questions. Research in Progress (RIP) is held Thursday's at 3:30 p.m. in Brotman Auditorium at South Lake Union during the academic year.
See the Immunology Events Calendar for upcoming RIP presentations.
Department Annual Retreat
The Department of Immunology holds an annual two-day Department Retreat (usually on a Monday and Tuesday in September) prior to the beginning of the academic year. The Retreat provides an opportunity for faculty, graduate students, postdoctoral fellows and staff to share ongoing research through formal scientific presentations and poster sessions.
Each year, the Sandra L. Clark Lecture is given during this Retreat, with a speaker selected by the Immunology graduate students.
The 2018 Retreat is scheduled Monday and Tuesday, September 17 and 18, at the Fort Worden Conference Center in Port Townsend, Washington.
Since 1985, the annual Russell S. and Rae Weiser Endowed Lecture has featured leading immunological investigators. In general, this lecture is held during the early spring each academic year, as part of the Immunology Seminar Series.
